Lasting Powers of Attorney

Plan for the decisions that may matter later.

A Lasting Power of Attorney lets people you choose make decisions for you if you are unable to, now or in the future.

Clear Will Writing is a specialist will-writing service and is not a firm of solicitors.

Start Your Enquiry

Tell us the basics about lasting powers of attorney. We'll contact you to discuss what you need.

No obligation. We'll explain the next step before you decide whether to proceed.

01 / Overview

Two types, two different jobs.

There are two kinds of LPA. One covers property and financial affairs; the other covers health and welfare. You can make one or both.

The person making the LPA is the donor. The people they choose to act are attorneys, and you can name replacement attorneys. You can also record preferences and instructions to guide them.

An LPA must be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian before it can be used. We help with preparing the documents and with registration assistance. A certificate provider is also needed, and we will discuss appropriate arrangements with you. We do not automatically act as certificate provider.

What we will discuss

  • Who should be your attorneys and replacements
  • Whether they act jointly or separately
  • Preferences and instructions
  • Certificate provider arrangements
  • Registration with the Office of the Public Guardian

A will and an LPA do different jobs.

A will deals with what happens after you die. An LPA helps with decisions during your lifetime. Many people consider both.
